Forbes broke into 2016 with their annual 30 Under 30 list with some hot contenders in music. These emerging musicians and artists are setting a new tone for the music industry. This year’s roster includes School Boy Q, Fetty Wap, The Weeknd, Demi Lavato, Metro Boomin, Kehlani, Nick Jonas and Grimes, to name a few, while A$AP Rocky made the front cover of the magazine as “Hip Hop’s new fashion mogul.” Kanye West can’t be too pleased about that!
The elite group was chosen by a panel of judges and past 30 Under 30 alums– Co-founder of Zinepack, Kim Kaupe, Mac Miller, Gary Clark, Jr., and ICM talent agent Zach Iser.
Past alums include Kendrick Lamar, who has 11 Grammy nominations for his album To Pimp A Butterfly, the founders of Songza, a streaming music concierge service that allows users to pick playlists based on mood, and Adele, 10x Grammy winner who had the highest selling album of 2015.
