Pub v. Pub? Publishing versus Publicity that is. The Publishing vs. Publicity Music and Entertainment Series held it’s first seminar of 2013 recently to expose dedicated musicians to more efficient ways of getting their music out as independent copyright owners of their work.
Roughly 75 songwriters, producers, artists, A&Rs, music supervisors, and publicists filled one of Atlanta’s popular music venues, Terminal West, located in west midtown. The seminar’s founder, Penience Le Gall, also head of Atlanta’s SESAC office, led the discussion, noting that publicity will get you noticed, publishing will get you paid.
The day consisted of several performances from SESAC affiliates including, Micah Kiyo, Canjelae, and Jimi Cravity. Speakers included Glenn Toby – Talent Manager, Nikki Marshall – Music Licensing, Cae Green – A&R, and Traci Hale – Songwriter (Brandy, Rihanna).
