Each year, performing rights organization, SESAC honors their songwriters and publishers who have had significant airplay achievement in the Rock, Pop, and Urban formats across the country. This years invitation-only event was held in New York City on May 14th and the IMC team covered the red carpet interviewing guests of the awards show.

Pop songstress Michelle Williams made a special appearance to present Rico Love with the night’s biggest honor,  Songwriter of the Year and we asked her if she had any advice to give IMC fans in regards to becoming successful in the music industry. “Stay focused, be consistent, don’t let a ‘no’ or a ‘you’re not good enough’ completely take you down. Just stay focused,” Michelle said.
